Competition Team

We are a Christian Faith Based Studio, and we will conduct ourselves as such. We will pray before all performances and competitions, and we will dance to some Christian music.

The "dance mom" mentality will not be tolerated. If a parent has any issue with how their child is being coached, that parent must come directly to the director. Talking about the coaches and gossiping WILL result in the immediate DISMISSAL of the student from the studio.

Parents, please allow the coaches to do their jobs. This may include the coaches being hard on dancers for the purpose of growing their talent as performers.

Dancers and Parents are not permitted to gossip about the studio, teachers, or other dancers at all! THIS WILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL FROM THE TEAM.

Parents must be encouraging to their own dancer and the whole dance Team. Talking negatively about either one could result in dismissal from the Team. That means being positive about other solo dancers competing in the same division as your own child.

Payment is due the first of the month, every month. If a dancer's tuition gets more than 1 month behind, that dancer will be suspended until payment is made current. At that point, a dancer may need to make up classes for additional costs. All Competition fees must be paid at the time specified. If payments are late for competition fees, dancers may be subject to late fees.

All fees and tuition are the responsibility of the dancer's parents / guardians.

Students will be permitted 2 excused absences for practices. If a student continues to miss practice, they must make up practices with additional private lessons, at the rate of $30 per 30-minute lesson. The number of lessons to be made up will depend on how much practice was missed and how much the director sees fit. If the dancer misses too many practices, that dancer may be placed as an alternate for all performances and competitions.

Dancers must attend practice regularly starting in July. If your dancer does not attend summer classes, they will not be permitted to do any solo, duet, or trio.

Group dances are always the most important part of our team. Solos, duets, and trios are a privilege and not a "right". If dancers miss group practices during the week, they may not attend solo practice that week!

Dancers designated as alternates are required to be at all practices, performances, and competitions. An alternate will not be able to serve in any Team capacity unless they continue full participation in this way.

All practices the week of a performance or competition are considered mandatory with no exceptions. If a student misses a practice, they may be placed as an alternate for that week's performance. If a student misses all practices the week of a performance, that student may be placed on performance probation.

Keeping your child home from dance should NEVER be used as a form of punishment. This not only holds your child back from achieving his/her full potential in dance, it also holds back the entire team.

Dancers are expected to come to class motivated and ready to learn. A poor attitude will not be tolerated and may result in that dancer sitting out of class.

Dress attire: Ballet class — leotard, pink ballet tights, ballet shoes, & hair in a neat bun. Team practice — appropriate dance shoes, tight fitting dance wear, and hair up neatly.

No jewelry or watches may be worn at practice with the exception of stud earrings or a Fitbit.

A dedicated practice bag is required for all dancers. This must house all dance shoes for practice, extra hair ties, ankle weights, extra dance clothes, personal hygiene products, and anything else that may be needed.

Absolutely no foul language will be accepted from dancers or parents! This includes the words "sucks" and "can't." Every dancer is expected to try a dance move and to keep trying until they accomplish the move. The use of the word "can't" will result in push-ups for the whole team.

Absolutely no use of tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs, misuse of prescription drugs, or anything harmful to the body or mind will be tolerated.

Miss Stephanie does not take any practice, choreography, or music suggestions from parents for dancers. A soloist may be permitted to suggest a song, but it may or may not be used at the discretion of the director.

No gum or candy may be in a dancer's mouth while inside the studio or during a performance.

Dancers must be respectful to all coaches and their parents/grandparents/guardians at all times. If a coach witnesses a dancer "giving attitude" or rolling eyes, that dancer may be made an alternate for all performances/competitions until the director deems that dancer is fit to perform.

All competitions and performances are subject to change, at the director's discretion, after they have been posted.

If a dancer misses a performance, that dancer may be dismissed from the team at the discretion of the director.

All performances and competitions are considered mandatory with no exceptions. Pop up performances may occur at the discretion of the director. The goal is to perform as often as possible!

No jewelry or nail polish may be worn at all during a performance unless specified by the director as part of the costume.

No refined sugar of any kind (pop, candy, and other sweets) is allowed before a performance, during competition days, or to refuel between practices.

Dancers are required to bring a dedicated dance bag with all the necessities, a garment bag with all costumes hung neatly, and a makeup bag to all performances.

Dancers must wear their team warm ups at all times at a competition. No one is permitted to walk around in costume without it being covered up.

We will attend approximately 5 competitions each year.

Last minute withdrawals from any competition will not be accepted. All entry fees are non-refundable, regardless of injury or family tragedies due to each competition's policies.

All competition scheduling is set by the competition itself; not our studio. Any requests to change specific days and times of performances cannot be accommodated.

Parents are not allowed to contact the offices of competitions. This is prohibited by the competitions. All questions are to be addressed through the studio.

During the competition season, dancers are prohibited from altering their hair color involving any color that is not natural such as bold streaks, blue, red, green, etc. Permanent hair accessories such as feathers, colored extensions, etc. are not allowed. No body piercings (other than ears) or tattoos are allowed while competing.

All dancers are required to purchase competition team make-up. Specific color information will be decided at a later date. All dancers are expected to follow the specific guidelines for the application of their make-up. Parents will be required and responsible to help your child with their hair and makeup prior to each event.

All teachers reserve the right to do a "group alteration" to any costume. Any individual sizing alterations are the responsibility of the parent. It is mandatory for all alterations to be 100% completed prior to the first performance.

Level placement, music selection, choreography, costuming and spacing of all group routines are at the director's and instructor's discretion and are not up for discussion. All decisions are made in the best interests of the dancers.

All Competition team students and parents are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner at all times. Gossiping by a student or a parent about other students, parents, staff members or other studios is not tolerated. Disrespecting a faculty member or another student is grounds for disciplinary action that may result in probation, suspension or being asked to leave the studio permanently.

During competition, whether we win or lose, we are expected to have a winning attitude. This applies to both dancers and parents alike. It applies to groups, solos, duets, and trios!

If a displeasing attitude is made during awards — whether acting thoroughly distraught OR being braggy and showing off — the dancer may be put on probation for a length of time determined by the director.

If a parent acts disrespectful at a competition because their child did or did not win, their dancer may be put on probation or even dismissed from the team at the director's discretion. Parents must be happy for all dancers and act as a cheerleader.
